IS
THIS BED BUG CAUSING YOU
PROBLEMS?
GreenWays D
Bed Bug Powder
Are
You Suffering with Bed Bugs?
So
what are bed bugs, anyway?
Everyone has heard of them.
They're essentially little bugs that are nocturnal and feed off human
blood.
There are actually a lot of different kinds, including some that feed
off
certain types of animals like chickens, but the ones most people are
worried
about live mainly off humans. They usually live inside of mattresses,
where
they have convenient access to a food source - you. They crawl out just
before
dawn and bite you, sucking out blood for about five minutes. You don't
feel
anything until after the bed bug is already safely back in its home.
They will usually bite
once a week or so, and they can
actually live for a
long time without feeding - usually six months, but sometimes over a
year.
Bed bugs can infest all
kinds of different places in your
bedroom. Most
often they're in the mattress - in the seams, the box springs, or
sometimes the
linens. However, they can really be anywhere near where people sleep -
furniture within crawling distance, carpet, books, phones - they've
been found
in all kinds of random things, because they don't create a nest, they
just hide
somewhere.
GREEN
WAYS D
GREEN WAYS D is and all
natural product that is harmless to
you. GREEN WAYS
D is odorless and is most used when controlling bed bugs. Works well in
cracks
and crevices, useful in any area. Can be used indoors
and
outdoors. GREEN WAYS D is safe for
pets and children. Active Ingredient: 100%, Diatomaceous Earth
GREEN
WAYS D contains 100% diatomaceous earth which is the
fossilized
skeletal remains of single celled phytoplankton commonly referred to as
diatoms. It works by dehydrating insects through a desiccating action.
The
absorptive properties of the fossilized cell-walls easily remove the
cuticle
outer waxy layer. This results in the loss of an insect ability to
maintain
proper fluid levels ultimately leading to death. Unlike boric acid
dusts that
work best when ingested, GREEN WAYS D only requires contact with the
insect to
be effective.
·
Bed bugs are a crawling insect, meaning
they can not jump or fly.
· GREEN WAYS D is a contact killer, meaning if a bed bug touches the
powder it
will die within 24 to 72 hours. (They typically die in hiding, so it's
normal
not to find any dead bed bugs in the powder).
· Bed bugs feed exclusively on blood.
With these three facts in
mind, all you have to do to be
successful in treating any bed bug infestation with GREEN WAYS D is:
1.
Make a Barrier
·
Make a barrier of powder between
the bed bugs and their
food source. You must ensure that in order for them to crawl to you
they must
touch/crawl over the powder at some point! (Remember, they may be
hiding on the
mattress or bed frame itself as well as around the room).
· Treat the bed: Diatomaceous Earth is an EPA registered products that
you can
use on the mattress itself! Treat both sides of the mattress. Also treat around the room
in places bed bugs
like to hide.
· Helpful hint: If you can fit the edge of a credit card into a crack
or
crevice, bed bugs can fit in too!
· Maintain the Barrier! The barrier has to be constant for the entire
treatment
period. Even a day lapse could set you back by weeks.
· Keep the powder down for 7 days at a time. At the end of the 7 day
period,
vacuum up the powder and reapply a new layer.
2.
Sleep in Your Bed!
It
is very important that you
continue your regular sleeping
habits during the course of this treatment. The reason is when starved,
bed
bugs will typically do one of two things:
·
Leave the room where you used to
sleep, looking for a
blood meal. They have been known to travel up to 100 yards to other
bedrooms or
even adjoining apartments. (In short, you will spread the infestation).
-Or- · Enter into a hibernation type state allowing them to
survive for
up to 7
months without a blood meal. They will wait in this state until they
sense the
carbon dioxide and heat released by someone returning to sleep in the
room.
3.
